O Buddha!

A Desperate Cry from a Dying World

Yanase Giryo

Jikko Bukkyokai Publishers

1994

The author of this book studied the hazardous effects agricultural chemicals had on people. He first published his studies about the same time as Rachel Carson published her book Silent Spring (1962). He felt impelled to further this work precisely by his prayer and practice as a Buddhist. Modern culture has not only inflicted a purely scientific and chemical approach to the world, but has also created a corrupt version of Buddhism. To attain a true and correct understanding of the religion and to truly benefit from what it has to offer, one must return to Buddhism as taught by Buddha-Shakyamuni himself. This Buddhism transcends the divisions humanity has placed on religion and society.
